What Are Winter Sports?

Winter sport is a commonly sport played during winters. Formally, these sports are played on snow or ice. The main winter sports are ice hockey and figure skating, sledding events such as skeleton, luge, and bobsleigh, snowboarding and skiing (Alpine and Nordic). The other common winter sports include snow-balling, monoskiing, skwal and tobogganing.

Winters sports are really fun. It does not matter the winter sport you choose, the major important thing is to stay warm. The right clothing and equipment will also help. It is better to dress in layers, ask any senior person is you are not sure what to wear outside. You should not forget to put on sunscreen when you are skiing, skating, sledding, or snowboarding.

Skate only on the approved ice, and never try skating on ice that has not been approved. In places where it gets very cold, you might be able to skate outdoors on the frozen ponds or lakes.

Such spots must be approved for skating. Before reaching for slopes to ski or snowboard, you should make sure that have the right equipment. Boots, bindings, and helmets are a must for sports people. Goggles will better protect the eyes from bright sunlight and objects. Wear gloves or mittens and boots to help you prevent injuries.

Before picking the sledding spot, the best is to have an adult check it first to make sure it is good. The hills assigned for sledding are always good, they can be safer than private areas like backyards. Look for the obstacles like trees.
